History
A rare and captivating variation of the iconic Cartier Tank, this Must de Cartier Tank “Concorde” represents a fascinating intersection of horology, design, and aviation history.
Produced in the late 1980s to early 1990s, this watch was created as a special-commission piece during the golden age of the Concorde supersonic jet. Unlike standard Must de Cartier models, the Concorde dial was never offered through Cartier catalogues, instead produced in very limited numbers for corporate or VIP distribution—making surviving examples exceptionally scarce today.
The watch features a striking black lacquer dial, framed by Cartier’s signature chemin-de-fer minute track and stylised Roman numerals, with the elegant must de Cartier script at centre. At 6 o’clock, the discreet Concorde emblem serves as a subtle but powerful nod to one of the most ambitious achievements in modern aviation. The design is housed in Cartier’s classic Tank Vermeil case, crafted from sterling silver and finished with a rich gold plating, complemented by the signature blue cabochon crown.
Powered by a Swiss quartz movement, this piece reflects Cartier’s Must era philosophy—combining precision, accessibility, and timeless design—while remaining entirely faithful to the brand’s heritage.
With very few examples believed to have been produced, the Cartier Must de Cartier Tank Concorde is a true collector’s piece: understated, historically resonant, and rarely encountered on the open market.
An exceptional opportunity to acquire a little-known but highly significant Cartier Tank, offered in excellent vintage condition.
