Condition
This 18k gold plated and stainless steel Rolex Air-King 5506 is absolutely stunning and is in brilliant condition for its age. The watch shows only light signs of wear and features a beautiful gold honeycomb dial with applied arabic numerals and arrow shaped hour markers along with the iconic Rolex crown sign indicating 12 o'clock. This is in our view one of the most attractive dials of this period, the colours and design work so well!
Dial - The gold honeycomb dial is superb condition with no visible marks. The hands are showing some oxidation which is not unusal for a watch of this age.
Case - The 18k gold plated front of the case is in great condition and shows the usual wear you would associate with a watch of this age. The gold plate at the edges of the lugs has worn away a little.
Crown - The crown is its original Rolex screw down and is in excellent condition as well as works perfectly in all of its functions.
Movement - This piece is powered by its original Rolex calibre 1530 automatic which is in perfect condition. This piece is keeping good time and all of its functions are working perfectly. The date is set by winding the hands forward.
Case back - The case back is original with all of its Rolex markings on the inside.
Bracelet - We have put this watch on a deservedly high quality leather strap.
Crystal - The watch features an acrylic crystal which was standard for Rolexes of this era. The crystal is in near mint condition.
